Our second online convention of 2025, SDHistCon Second Front, is just one week away on June 7! This convention will run from 8 a.m. Eastern/5 a.m. Pacific to 11 p.m. Eastern/8 p.m. Pacific, and will feature an incredible array of seminars, game demos, opportunities to play games, and more. Badges and event tickets are available now! Here’s a small sampling of the many events on offer:
Coffee with The Players’ Aid: Grant and Alexander of The Players’ Aid fame will kick things off at 8 a.m. ET/5 a.m. PT with SDHistCon’s trademark morning get-together, which will feature discussion of what’s coming throughout the day.
Coast Watchers’ Designer Teach and Play: Designer Volko Ruhnke will show off his upcoming Coast Watchers in Tabletop Simulator at 9 a.m. ET/6 a.m. PT.
Rebel Fury Digital: At 9 a.m. ET/6 a.m. PT, designer Mark Herman will run a teach and play of the Wilderness scenario of his Rebel Fury game, using the recently-launched Steam digital app.
Rebels Against Rebellion: Designer David Thompson has three events on this upcoming title: a gameplay overview at 9 a.m. ET/6 a.m. PT followed by a historical discussion at 10 a.m. ET/7 a.m. PT and a full game demo at noon ET/9 a.m. PT.
How To Get Your Game Design Made By Blue Panther: Blue Panther CEO Steve Jones will host a discussion on what designers should know on getting their titles published by his company at 2 p.m. ET/11 a.m. PT.
VUCA Demos: New Cold War: Come check out VUCA Simulations’ hot new geopolitical title in a 3 p.m. ET/noon PT session hosted by one of the designers.
Harold interviews Bruce Geryk and Chip Saltsman: SDHist founder Harold Buchanan will talk to Bruce “Space Rumsfeld” Geryk and noted OCS designer/developer Chip Saltsman on a wide range of topics, starting at 5 p.m. ET/2 p.m. PT.
Learn to play A Gest of Robin Hood on Board Game Arena: Fred Serval’s design here is the latest in GMT Games’ COIN-inspired Irregular Conflicts Series, and provides an excellent entry point to both ICS and the overall COIN series, especially in the rules-enforced platform of Board Game Arena. SDHist’s Andrew Bucholtz will show off how this game and the overall BGA interface work in a demo starting at 6 p.m. ET/3 p.m. PT: participants can then take on each other!
Combat Commander – Utilizing the Random Scenario Generator: To wrap up the convention at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT, Kai Jensen and Patrick Pence (of Patrick’s Tactics and Tutorials) will walk players through the steps of using Combat Commander’s Random Scenario Generator, and show off the narratives it can produce.
