We’re getting close to our next online event, SDHist AmRevCon! This digital convention will run all day on Saturday, June 27 (tomorrow!), starting with a coffee chat with designer Volko Ruhnke (Hunt For Blackbeard, Coast Watchers, Wilderness War, the Levy and Campaign series, the GMT COIN series, and much more) at 8 a.m. EDT/5 a.m. PDT and concluding with a wrap-up show with Gary “Ardwulf” Mengle and SDHist’s Harold Buchanan (plus an array of special guests!) at 8 p.m. EDT/5 p.m. PDT. Badges are still available if you want to join us! Here are Ardwulf and Harold discussing this con on last week’s The Chit Show, alongside Dan Pancaldi and SDHist’s Andrew Bucholtz:
There’s going to be a great lineup of events for AmRevCon. We spotlighted many of them a few weeks back; here are some others to consider.
Learn to play Liberty or Death! (9 a.m. EDT/6 a.m. PDT): SDHist’s Andrew Bucholtz will teach and run a full game of the short (Southern Campaign) scenario of Harold Buchanan’s American Revolution-set game, Volume V in GMT Games’ COIN series. Seats are still available if you’re looking to play, or you can watch and follow along via Discord.
Wilderness War teach and play (noon EDT/9 a.m. PDT): Designer Volko Ruhnke will show off his game on the French and Indian War, a crucial prelude to the American Revolution.
Great Marches of the American Revolution (1 p.m. EDT/10 a.m. PDT): Designer Jacob Guernsey will host a teach and play for this upcoming series from ConSimGames, with the first volume covering Howe’s march on Philadelphia, Washington’s march on Trenton and Princeton, and Clinton’s march to New York.
A More Perfect Union – Teach, Play, Discuss (1 p.m. EDT/10 a.m. PDT): Designer John Lapham will show off his upcoming 2-player card-driven game from Compass Games that covers the struggle to ratify the Constitution, the bookend to the revolutionary era.
Founding Fathers – The History of the History (2 p.m. EDT/11 a.m. PDT): Designer Jason Matthews will discuss his 2010 design (with Christian Leonard) on the Constitution with SDHist’s Harold Buchanan.
Mark Miklos discusses Battles of the American Revolution (4 p.m. EDT/1 p.m. PT): Designer Mark Miklos will talk to Harold Buchanan about his Battles of the American Revolution series, which has 10 games published through GMT Games so far and more on the way.
Win a digital copy of Saratoga!
The first game in that Battles of the American Revolution series from Mark Miklos is now available digitally! Hexes of War, which has done great digital implementations of GMT Games’ Rebel Fury and C3i Magazine’s Gettysburg and Waterloo, has a new implementation of Saratoga (Miklos’ 1999 design that started the series) out. And five lucky AmRevCon attendees can get a copy of that digital implementation for free, thanks to a very generous donation from Hexes of War’s Bob Tipton! Winners will be randomly selected from convention attendees.
These are just a few of the many events we have across a whole day of gaming! Get your badge now and join us starting at 8 a.m. EDT/5 a.m. PDT on June 27!
